Global law enforcement groups, NGOs, and members of the tech community came together at Aylo Cyprus office to advance collective commitment to combatting online child sexual exploitation.
Montreal, Quebec (February 28, 2025) – This month, Aylo had the privilege of hosting an INTERPOL’s DevOps event at its Cyprus office. 15 participants from global law enforcement, NGOs, and the tech community came together to collaborate on developing a technical solution that strengthens investigative capabilities for online child protection efforts and supports the mental health of those on the front lines.
From February 17 to February 21, 2025, global experts from across a variety of different industries and sectors were brought together with the common goal of offering a solution that serves to identify, prevent and address harms happening to children online. In addition to Aylo hosting and contributing to the efforts, the following were among the organizations in attendance:
Cyprus Police, Cypercrime Division
INTERPOL
Swedish Police
U.S. law enforcement
Global Emancipation Network (U.S. NGO)
This project is specifically aimed at supporting frontline law enforcement investigators and analysts by creating a tool that dramatically reduces the time it takes to review and process explicit material.
Law enforcement groups and others tasked with processing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) have historically spent long periods of time manually reviewing and describing the content for investigative and court purposes. This extended exposure to this type of explicit illegal and heinous material can have severe impacts on mental health.
By developing a means to expedite this workflow, exposure is minimized, and investigators are able process content more efficiently, which not only helps to mitigate some of the toll on their mental health, but may also hasten resolution of cases and, consequently, justice for victims of CSAM.
The goal is to make this solution available to the approximately 200 Interpol member countries via the INTERPOL DevOps working group as part of their portfolio of child protection resources.
